Renthal knows a thing or two about making sprockets that last, and the 1XR is their take on the narrow-wide chainring done properly. Built for 1x drivetrains running 9 through 12-speed chains, this 104 BCD ring goes beyond the basic narrow-wide formula with a tooth profile engineered to actively shed mud, resist wear, and grip the chain like it owes it money.
The secret sauce is in the details. Alternating 1.8mm and 3.5mm teeth lock into the chain's inner and outer links in sequence, while a tall, square tooth profile means retention stays high even as the teeth wear down over time. Mud grooves cut into each tooth bed push grime away from the chain contact zone before it can build up and cause problems, and the recessed frontal profile on the wide teeth adds extra clearance for the inner chain plates to extend ring life further.
CNC machined from 7075 T6 aluminum and finished with a hard anodized coating, the 1XR is built to take abuse and keep coming back for more. The stiff I-Beam cross section keeps weight down without sacrificing rigidity, and reviewers across the board have noted it outlasts most of the competition by a significant margin.
