The Maxxis Minion DHR II 3C MaxxTerra EXO+ delivers rear-wheel braking confidence and all-conditions grip for aggressive trail and enduro riding on 29-inch wheels.

The Minion DHR II needs no introduction on the rear wheel. This is the tire that aggressive trail and enduro riders reach for when the trail gets steep, loose, and unforgiving. The 2.60" Wide Trail casing fills out modern wide rims beautifully, giving you a rounded profile and a massive contact patch that inspires confidence when you're really leaning into corners or standing on the brakes.

The tread design is pure business. Wide side knobs borrowed from the legendary DHF are widened further for even more cornering support, while the center tread features ramped leading edges for snappy acceleration and paddle-like knobs that claw into the dirt under hard braking. The 3C MaxxTerra compound hits the sweet spot for most riders: grippier than MaxxSpeed and longer-lasting with less rolling resistance than MaxxGrip, meaning it performs across a wide range of conditions without burning through your wallet every few months.

The updated EXO+ casing is a real upgrade over the old setup, featuring a 60 TPI build with tear-resistant topping rubber and a butyl insert above each bead. The result is nearly twice the puncture resistance of standard EXO, plus about 20% better pinch-cut protection, all without turning the tire into a tank. Tubeless Ready (TR) compatibility rounds out the package, letting you drop pressures for even more traction on the rough stuff.

Why You'll Like It

For the Enduro shredder, you'll feel locked in from the first hard corner, with the wide 2.60" profile and DHF-derived side knobs giving you a confidence-inspiring, predictable edge that doesn't suddenly let go. You'll also appreciate how the EXO+ casing shrugs off the rock strikes and root snags that would flat a lesser tire, keeping you riding instead of fixing tubes on the side of the trail.

Key Features

  • 3C MaxxTerra triple compound: grips harder than MaxxSpeed, outlasts MaxxGrip, ideal for all-conditions trail riding
  • Wide Trail (WT) 29 x 2.60" profile optimized for 30-40mm inner rim widths with a rounded, supportive shape
  • EXO+ casing with tear-resistant rubber and butyl bead insert delivers nearly 2x puncture resistance and ~20% more pinch-cut protection
  • Rear-specific tread with ramped center knobs for fast acceleration and paddle-like braking knobs for serious stopping power
  • Tubeless Ready (TR) for easy sealant setup, lower running pressures, and reduced flat risk
