Co-developed with World Cup downhill champion Greg Minnaar, the Assegai is built for riders who refuse to slow down when the trail gets rowdy. The tall, aggressive knobs punch through dust, loam, and mud to find traction, while the ramped center tread keeps things rolling efficiently between the chaos. A small intermediate knob between the center and shoulder lugs delivers that buttery-smooth cornering transition that'll have you rail berms and blind corners with total confidence.
This 29x2.60WT version is spec'd with 3C MaxxTerra compound, the sweet spot between the race-day stickiness of MaxxGrip and the efficiency of MaxxSpeed. You get serious traction across all conditions without torching your tire on every dusty pedal section. The Wide Trail (WT) casing is optimized for modern 35mm inner rims, giving you a properly rounded profile instead of the square, sketchy shape you'd get from a traditional tire on a wide rim.
The EXO+ casing is where this tire earns its keep for everyday shredding. It runs a 60 TPI fabric weave with a butyl wedge above the bead for extra snakebite and sidewall protection, handling trail abuse better than standard EXO without the added weight of a Double Down. It's tubeless-ready out of the box, because running tubes in 2024 is a crime against mountain biking.
