The Aspen ST is Maxxis' secret weapon for short track and XC racing, and the Team Spec edition is the same setup the pros have been quietly running for seasons. Built around a 170 TPI casing, it shaves 65 grams over the standard 120 TPI version and delivers a noticeably more supple, faster-rolling feel that you can sense from the first pedal stroke. It's the fastest tire Maxxis makes, full stop.
The tread is all business. The Aspen ST swaps the Aspen's center knobs for a shallow, rasp-file-textured surface that minimizes rolling resistance on dry hardpack while the staggered side knobs still give you something to lean on in corners. Pair that with Maxxis' updated MaxxSpeed compound, a high-silica single compound that Maxxis claims cuts rolling resistance by 25% versus the old 3C MaxxSpeed, and you've got a tire that's genuinely built to win races.
EXO sidewall protection keeps the casing tough without adding dead weight, and the TR tubeless-ready setup means you can run lower pressures for better traction without the flat tire penalty. One caveat: the 170 TPI casing trades some durability for speed, so Maxxis recommends this one for race days and riders who know what they're signing up for.
